Case studies

What happened, with the numbers attached.

Three worked examples. Each includes what we got wrong, because a case study without a mistake in it is a brochure.

Quick answer These case studies document press release campaigns distributed through PressCosmos, reporting pickup rates, referring domains earned, AI citation share change and the routing decisions behind the results. Figures are from client-approved reporting for illustrative campaigns.

B2B software · Series B

A funding announcement that needed category authority, not volume

The problem. A Series B raise was being framed as a funding story. The category, not the cheque, was the real news.

What we did. Reframed the release around a published benchmark on onboarding time inside a 21-country distribution with three language variants.

What we got wrong. The first draft buried the benchmark in paragraph six. Moving it to the first paragraph roughly doubled pickup rate on the second send.

Regulated results distribution without a compliance problem

The problem. Phase 2 data required careful framing, and the legal team had blocked two previous release drafts.

What we did. Built the release inside the constraint: registry references, stage-labelled evidence, and fair-balance language agreed before drafting.

What we got wrong. We initially omitted the adverse-event rate. It was the first thing every clinical desk asked for, and adding it improved pickup rather than hurting it.

Consumer retail · Store openings

Twelve openings, twelve local stories, one national send avoided

The problem. A national send for a regional store programme produced almost no coverage for three times the cost.

What we did. Switched to metro-level targeting around each opening, with local hiring numbers and community details in each release.

What we got wrong. We sent the first two openings nationwide. Cost per pickup on those was $284 versus $31 once targeting was corrected.
